CS:GO on a budget (£200-£300)

Hi guys,

Looking to either buy parts and have a friend build me a PC, or buy something ready made.

I'm really not concerned about running CS:GO at its highest settings. Something that can provide a constant 100+fps at medium/low settings will suffice. I will most probably also tinker with command settings in game to gain more fps.

I know it's a very low budget and this has probably been asked countless times, but I figure if it can be done then this would be the best place to ask

Also bonus points if OS included in budget.

Thanks

Desperate times require desperate measures.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

You can add another HDD later. 320 gigs is enough for CS:GO.
According to this http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_install/expiration-dates-for-windows-10-technical-preview/b979fd2b-f8fc-4e6b-a023-f018a0a44127?auth=1
You still have time so you can run it before saving money and the getting OS later.
If you want to stretch to the 300 pound threshold I recommend getting a more powerful card like the R9 270 (or R7 370).

You can aslo make CS:GO pay (if you get my drift and if you are lucky!!)

Solution

Cheers for the quick reply,

will this be able to run without dropping below 100fps?

Thanks for the reply,

Will this build be able to run smoothly without dropping below 100fps?

Appreciate the help

Why do you need 100 fps? Isn't 60 enough? Also there is going to be significant tearing if you go above 60.
The igpu of the 7600 is equal to the one of 6800k (which I have) and I get 60 fps on 1366*768 res (Mainly medium settings).

The 260x on the other hand is a lot stronger(the 370 even more so) and can reach 100fps on 720p.

EDIT: Found the answer =

Form the video description = "Max Settings on 1680*1050

With fraps: 45-60 fps
Without fraps: 110-230 fps

My pc:

CPU Intel Pentium K G3258
GPU ATI R7 260x
8gb ram 1600mhz
HDD 5400 rpm 500gb
Motherboard MSI B85M-P33"

I hope you found this helpful.

I stand instantly corrected. This build is far better suited to CS:GO than the build above. I also just realised this is 300 pounds rather than 300 dollars.

It's hard to know the exact FPS, but it should run at/above 60fps depending on your quality settings. Here's what game-debate thinks it'll run at http://www.game-debate.com/games/index.php?g_id=2323&game=Counter-Strike%3A+Global+Offensive&p_make=AMD&p_deriv=APU+A8-7600+Quad-Core&gc_make=ATI&gc_deriv=Radeon+R7+7600&ram=8&checkSubmit=#systemrequirements

It's not going to max out Witcher 3, but CSGO really isn't that demanding so I wouldn't worry.

Ok cool, so the build you recommend in your first post can run at a constant 60fps on medium settings? Also will I need to buy an OS?

Appreciate the help. Thanks

Cheers for all the help, I'll probably go ahead and do your build over the next few months.

first time building a pc so ill send you a pic of the final product.

with the windows 10 preview, is there an expiry date or will i be able to use it until i decide to buy an OS?

Thanks a lot.

Hi, been a while since this I asked about all of this, and some of the items have gone up in price. In particular is the graphics card which is now £95.99.

Is there a better option for that price now? Or any of the items to be honest..

Wanted to ask before I order all of this

Thanks a lot
