- Is CS 1.6 going to die (i.e. decline hugely in popularity), with CS:S
taking over?

- When will new maps be released?

- What's the maximum number of players allowed (e.g. 32 in CS 1.6)?

- Anyone know what other mods will be released for HL2/Source?

- When will we see the first mods?

- Will other mods be freely downloadable via Steam if you have purchased
HL2?

Probably not there are loads of people with PCs that aren't good
enough for source but eventually it may disappear

> - When will new maps be released?

New maps for source? Official ones probably on the next major update
(ages yet) third party ones any time now, there may be some already.

> - What's the maximum number of players allowed (e.g. 32 in CS 1.6)?

Dunno

> - Anyone know what other mods will be released for HL2/Source?

Official valve ones are Day of Defeat Source and Half-Life Source.
Third party ones, who knows really but I heard natural selection was
going to be updated and I heard rumours of firearms but nothing
certain

> - When will we see the first mods?

When they are done but don't hold your breath HL2 isn't even out yet.

> - Will other mods be freely downloadable via Steam if you have

The official valve ones, it looks as if you will have to pay for DoD
and HL:S as the retail DVD only includes HL2 and CS:S and the steam
bought packages that include DoD:S and HL:S seem to be a bit more
expensive than the retail DVD

As for third party mods it's up to the modders if you have to pay and
up to valve if you will be able to get them over steam.

Imagine 50 people all charging the center hall 10 seconds into the round.
3 he grenades = 25 points and 25 team kills.

I Imagine that teamplay won't play a part with that many players 🙂
50 people would be great in a deathmatch though!

"Time will Tell" is the answer to most of those questions...

However, as for other mods being freely downloadable from Steam, I
expect you will still have to download mods the old-fashioned way and
install them in to steam as 3rd-party mods. Then again, Valve have
said several times that they are keen to incorporate the 'best' user
mods into Steam.

They all follow the same theme, or is that just me?

And I don't mean the theme as 'shootin fingz'

I've been in with 50. It gets a little cramped. I hung around the middle
area, made a cup of team, had a quite slice of toast, did some washing
and then came back the routes were sufficiently cleared for me to
actually get a shot in.

Still, got me washing done.

Well, maybe not the same theme (star wards, WW2 and modern-day).. but
they all do seem to be pseudo-realism wartime teamplay mods. They all
'look' nice, although none of them very original :-/

I was coming from the idea that they're coming from rebellion vs empire
forces.

I dunno, early morning post. It's probably more than a little tenious.

Ah, you set your horizons too low! I only mention spelling mistakes
when they produce something beautiful. This was poetic.

And I would be complimented if it were my mind placing the words
together after much thought or maybe after a burst of love or hate
fueled inspiration.

But it was just a typo :)

Hey, I'm 29 and I feel like a 5 year old. I can't hold anything

Lol, to a 29yr old I suppose a 41yr old is indeed a wrinklie 🙂
