CSGO 144hz Problem

Hey guys I have a problem with my monitor/game (i dont know which one). So whenever I start CSGO, I can get 144hz ezpz at 16:9 res. However, when I try to switch to 1024x768, the monitor blacks out. But when I alt-tab out of csgo, and change my desktop res to 1024x768@144hz, and go back to csgo, it works fine. So the problem is, when I put -freq 144 in launch command, the desktop does not force a 144hz which causes the black screen. Any way I can make the desktop res switch to 144hz when I start CSGO? I don't want to have to change it all the time to make it work.

The problem is I cannot start the game in 1024x768 resolution. And when I start at a 16:9 res, although I do get 144hz, I cannot scale the image (the options are greyed). I can only scale a 4:3 res.

I want to edit something. I tried other 4:3 resolutions and it seems to work (such as 1280x960), but just not 1024x768.

console commands

-w 1024 -h 768 -> forces the resolution to 1024x768
-full -> forces fullscreen mode
-windowed -> forces window mode
-freq x -> forces the monitor to use x hertz

oh my god i solved it. the problem was that i created a custom res. for some reason that custom res was giving me out of range

if you have done to much tweaking, you can always delete your cfg folder, it will reset to default settings including resolution
