Question CSGO Competitive PC - Upgrade CPU

Hi,
Here is my PC config:
ASUS Prime A520M-K
AMD Ryzen 5 5500 3.60GHz
16 Go RAM (8x2) Corsair Vengeance 3600MHz CL16
GEFORCE Zotac RTX 3050 8GB
Corsair 450W

I play mainly competitive CS:GO. I often have fps drops around 200 fps and I would like to upgrade my pc. I play with all graphics at minimum and I heard that CS:GO is a game that depends mostly on CPU and RAM.
With PCPartPicker (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/JrzjVw) I saw that my pc was compatible with the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X (I have a 450W PSU). Do you think this is a good idea? Or there are better options?
Will there be a big change ?

Your gpu is the biggest bottleneck but an upgrade is limited by the power supply.

5900x upgrade is still going to max out the gpu. CSGO does not need 12 cores, in needs one or two very fast or a lot of cache (5800x3d). 5600x or 5700x would be the cheaper choices.

But your GPU is the straw limiting fps.

Yeah, depending on price you can check out the benchmarks to compare what's available.

Keep in mind you'll just likely need the minimum recommended power supply of 650w. More if you might upgrade again on the same setup

While the 5700x is a good cpu but the 5900x will perform better due to higher clocks.

The 5800x3d excels at games using multiple cores. For games that use one or two cores the 5900x will provide better performance.

CSGO is highly cpu limited and mostly single threaded.

Try this simple test:
Run YOUR game, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
This makes the graphics card loaf a bit.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely more cpu limited.

Do you have a budget?

Something like a 3070 would be a big jump, but you are looking at a 750/850w psu.

But, from your description, I think you may want a cpu upgrade.
Run the cpu-z bench app on your r5 5600 and look at the single thread performance rating.
You should get a number like 601. Normally, that is quite good.

The top processor for your motherboard is the R9-5950x at 647.
Seems like not a big value for $500.
All of the top processors currently are the new gen Intel processors.
That will require a motherboard change to a lga1700 motherboard.
Your ddr4 ram would be fine.
The same is true for AMD 7000 series processors which can be competitive.
They will require a AM5 motherboard as well as DDR5 ram.

If budget is no issue, look for a $700 I9-13900KS.
