Happened around the 13th of May. Suddenly my copy and paste shortcuts stopped working and it was right around the time I got a Windows update.. Took laptop back to Staples, $300 later, cleared a few viruses but the keys still don't work. They do work on an external wireless keyboard however. I've tried quite a few things and the techs there didn't know what was wrong either and ruled out a hardware issue since both Ctrl keys stopped working at the same time. Suggestions?
Thanks!

Solution
Try this...

1. Uninstall the keyboard driver.
2. Reboot the computer (without reinstalling the driver).
3. When it restarts, it should reinstall the driver on its own.

If this doesn't work, you may wish to try connecting an external keyboard and see if it works fine. If it does, then it could be the keys themselves that are the issue.

You may also want to try updating the Synaptics Driver if the above doesn't help.

Had the same problem and the following worked for me:

1. From Windows Start, search for Device Manager, and open it up

2. In device manager navigate to the Keyboard Standard 101/102, and uninstall the driver

3. Shut down your laptop.

4. Remove the battery, and after you unplug your laptop, wait for 15s.

5. Reboot

Good Luck!

I have the same problem with my Toshiba Satellite A665-S6086. Ctrl V does not work. Device manager shows I have two keyboard drivers. Which should I delete?

HID Keyboard Device
Standard PS/2 Keyboard

Thank you
