Hi all, hope you can give some help/insight

Wifes PC Win 10 21H2... has been working fine.. successfully installed Feb cumulative update... but then March (and now April) have failed with a 0x800f0831 error..
Error seems to be that an older update is not avail in the catalogue.. I did check logs for the catalogue that was missing.. found the update.. downloaded it from MS, but the update now said it not appropriate for the comp (presume it been superseded?)
So I tried the DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /Restorehealth command... no joy (cant recall the failure mode)
tried sfc /scannow again.,.. no joy..
So I thought I would just nuke it.. and so downloaded the media creation tool and told it to upgrade.. and keep all files/apps
But that failed as well .. with a 0xC1900101 - 0x2000D "Installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation"
Looking online.. just seems to be a rats nest of "it could be a->z have you tired <a million different and often crazy ideas>

So anyone have a pretty good idea what I am facing here? with a targeted solution?.. I dont want to spend hours and hours on a wild goose chase..
If I am going to spend hours on it... I may as well do clean install and restore her apps manually (not that many.. mostly Office/Outlook and browser prefs favourites)..

Machine is fine.. SSD is in good health... plenty of free space... etc.. so please no "have you turned if off and on again?" 😉

Thanks in advance for any insights :)

Kaspersky Internet security.. same as on my machine and my daughters.. none of us had similar issues..
But may be I should have uninstalled for the media creation tool upgrade and repair attempts? (though I think I did turn off for repair attempts... cant recall for sure)
