Curious about multiple CPU's

Hi Guys,
I have recently been looking at Supermicro's Website and have come across quite a few motherboards that support Quad CPU's. Does anyone have any idea what kind of workload would require so many cores?

Server. Design programs. For instance photoshop will utilize as many cpu's or cores available to render images.
