here is the deal.
warez version of UT was working fine on my old relic, and win2k
got new 1200c on an asus a7v133 and a bright fresh shiney new win 2k install.

now UnrealTournement is going slow...
mega slow..
less than 20 frames a second in fact in 800x600
when i tried switching from direct3d to software (direct processor rendering) the framerate shot up to 80 or so.
whats going on? why is direct3d sooo slow here?
using 12.40 nvidia drivers
service pack 2
directx 8.0

help anyone?
suggestions?

This behavior must not continue! Feel the BURNING STARE of my HAMSTER... and change your ways!

I don't mean to be blunt, but Windows 2000 just doesn't do well with games. It was meant for stability, not multimedia. Perhaps you should dual-boot with Windows 98 and just have games on that partition...

hmms curiouser and curiouser.
i swap from direct3d to software. vast frame rate increase.
i change back to direct3d. crawls again.
swap to software... play it for a while. turn of.
come back, switch to direct3d and it works perfectly. 70+fps @ 800x600.
go figure. :)
now all i have to do is work out why it keeps locking my computer every hour or so...
and its NOT overheating or the voltage.
i can run seti for many hours no probs.
and ive run UT for at least 2 straight with me sitting in a corner watching the action.
its sems to only lock up when im in the thick of it with alot of input going on... and then very randomly.
*sighs*
maybe i should get a REAL copy lol
