Question Current best freesync monitor?

Hello everyone how are you? Hope that fine!
I'm currently making a build but all comes to the monitor as main piece.
I wanted a freesync monitor ips 1440p 144hz.
On a full AMD build.
But none to be seen that is actually good for gaming and general use.
Therefore is making me chose and g-sync option that is alot more expensive that I would prefer not to but can with nvidia components.
The Acer Predator XB271HU is g-sync and looks a beast..
but I would like a freesync equivalent.
Is there no freesync option just as good as this one? I just cant seem to find.
Any help would be appreciated.

For general usage it is quite amazing and gaming the extra width of the monitor is quite nice.

The gigabyte Aorus AD27QD is the best free sync monitor I have seen. But it is expensive.

Have you considered an ultrawide? They are fantastic. Once you go ultrawide, you cant go back.

If you live near a Microcenter though you can get the MSI 34" 3440x1440P/100hz/VA ultrawide for $370 and then for $350 after MIR (Normally $420 online).

Is the rx 5700 xt enough to run that kind of screen? It barely keeps up with normal 1440p...
Since some times it struggles already beneath 100 hz.

Ye... but no where close enough to the 144 smooth gameplay I'm looking mainly for or close to.
1440p is the sweet spot with the rx 5700 xt with some lower settings. But ultra wide ripes it apart.
But I do appreciate those mentions. Hadn't checked them out.

Even the 2080Ti has problems staying at or about 144FPS at 1440p. In fact that is about the only GPU that can run 3440x1440 at 100FPS most of the time.

My GTX 1080 ti can hit 100+ fps easy on 3440x1440p via Black Ops 4 on ultra. With exception to Metro Exodus, I find it hard to believe have a 2080 ti can't reach 144fps at that resoution. It has 1 million less pixels than 4k. Sure it won't be sustained some of the time, but that's mostly game optimization and not the hardware.

They are going to be very close. Both are really good monitors. The gigabyte monitor does have HDR where the Acer Predator XB271HU does not. So it has an edge there.

Also, you wont be getting 144fps with the 5700xt at 1440p on modern AAA games. In pcgamer's review below, they averaged 83fps at ultra settings. Even dropping the settings down some wont double the fps. I am not saying it is a bad card, but you should know what you are getting.

Is this a strictly gaming rig? For 1440p, I say ditch the 3800x (definitely the 9700k) and go for a 3600. Use all the money you save on the CPU and move up to a 2080ti. For gaming at 1440p, there will be only a couple of fps difference (less than 3%) between a 3800x and a 3600.

Build your gaming rig around your GPU.

If it is a workstation, then go for the 3800x, but dont even consider the 9700k. It is a rip off.

I thought it was the other way around...3600x for workstation and i7 9700k for strict gaming...
Since sometimes there's a difference up to 10% on very few selected games... at 1440p. Maybe due to drivers at this point?
Don't you feel the 2080 ti is overkill with the new upcoming rtx 2080 super for 10% /15% over the rtx 2080? Rtx 2080 super will be 700/750 here in germany and rtx 2080 ti is 1350€.
For should be another 10% difference from 2080 super.

The R5 3600x is within 10% performance of an i9 9900k at half price. You'll guaranteed get better gaming longevity with the 3600x. You'll achieve better fps with the i7 9700k up front, however as triple A title gaming demands for cpu performance increase, the tables with quickly turn due to the 3600x's superior multicore performance. The i7 is a rip off IMO.

10% is a very small performance difference considering the massive price difference. Plus at a higher resolution the performance difference goes lower due to the gaming load shifting from the CPU to the GPU.

When you move up in resolution, all of the stress goes to the GPU. Therefore, different CPUs will see very similar performance at 1440p whereas at 1080p there is a bigger difference. In the techpowerup review below, the 9700k had 1% better fps than the 3700x at 1440p. The 3600 will perform within 1% of the 3700x at 1440p.

So gaming at 1440p does not require a highend CPU, so dont spend you money on one. You dont have to get a 2080ti, I am a tech junkie and I wont spend that much on the 2080ti. But a 2080 or 2080 super is much better than a 5700xt. So use the money you save on CPU and get a 2080 or super.

For your use case, get a good midrange CPU (3600), and get the best GPU you can afford.
