Howdy folks!

I am currently running an old machine that I want to eventually replace.. But, as money is always an issue, I really only want to spend about $150 AUD for now on a new GPU that I might pick up on ebay.

I would like to be able to play Fallout 4 smoothly, don't really care too much about ultra settings.

Could you please help and advise as to a short term GPU fix to play the likes of F4 or the new Doom smoothly.

Specs are:
i7-930
Nvidia Gefore Gtx 465
8 GB ram.
700 Watt PSU

If you require anymore information, please ask.

Thanks in advance

I would consider 1060 if you can wait (aka not pay $300+ for founders edition @ launch but get a AIB GPU with better performance for less $). AIB 480's are also in the nearer future which may save you some money but at the cost of some performance.

I would either get the cheapest AIB 1060 (possibly $260) when available or an AIB 4gb 480 (possibly $250 for 8gb model/$220 4gb).

I heard NVidia is going to release a 3gb 1060 with 128 less cuda cores to compete with the 4gb 480 lower price, if true it will probably loose it's lead in performance (down to a tie) but will be able to match it's price.

should be looking at a gtx 950

you might need to overclock the cpu

I have a Thermal Take litepower 700 watt PSU in my setup.

I was able to find some more money and was looking at an upgrade to an MSI 970. Would this be wise and would it work in my system?
I was advised to also look at an AMD RX 480.... but unsure.

Thanks for any help

depends on if you plan on upgrading the cpu later as anything faster than a 970 at 1080p wont benefit you
