[SOLVED] Currently have a RX480, upgrade to a 1660?

Hi everyone,

I currently am using a 4 GB RX 480 and am in the process of rebuilding my desktop. My first question is, is it even worth upgrading to a 580? If it helps, I found this (View: https://www.reddit.com/r/hardwareswap/comments/d5q13i/usail_h_sapphire_nitro_rx_580_8gb_w_paypal/
) thread on Reddit where the person is selling used 580s for $100.

If it's not worth to upgrade to a 580, how about a 1660? I know that the performance difference is pretty big.
The main thought for me, though, is that I can either:

1. Not upgrade and stay with my 480
2. Spend $100 (for used) or $160 (for new) and upgrade to a 580
3. Spend ~$200 and upgrade to a 1660.

580 not at all you will see like 5-6% more performance is just not worth it. With 1660 you will see a difference in performance but still not mindblowing. Is your card insufficient to run any of your games and you want to upgrade? Personally i would suggest to stay with the RX480 until you can raise some more money and go to something better like RX5700 , RTX 2060 , RTX 2060 super.

CS:GO (occasional)

I think my GPU is handling everything pretty well, I just have had the mindset that when you rebuild a PC you need to replace everything, lol. I will most likely want to play The Witcher 3 / Minecraft, but I think my 480 can handle those.

If it helps, the new CPU is going to be a 2600. Maybe a 3600, I haven't been watching prices too much as of late.

Your gpu is enough for these games at 1080p and you can keep it even if you change your mobo/cpu/ram combo. Right now you can find 2600 ~130$ and 3600 ~200$ if you can pick Ryzen 5 3600 then go for it because you will have more gpu option to pair with this cpu later.

It looks like I can pick up a 3600 for $195. Do you know if the BIOS would still need to be flashed from that issue it had during release? I have never done anything like that before.

Just get an MSI B450 Max model. These models are out of the box compatible with 3000 series ryzen and have bigger rom size for bios. I would suggest MSI B450 Tomahawk Max is a really good board for ~110$.
