Cursor not responding.

This issue has been bugging me for a whole week now and I can't seem to fix it. My mouse's left trigger has not been responding lately. Its behaving as if the button is constantly being held down. When on the desktop the cursor is stuck creating the highlight square, and if I manage to pull up a browser it auto grabs anything and I can't release it. It is stuck in drag and drop mode on whatever the cursor was highlighting when the browser was pulled up.

And whenever its not behaving that way it will highlight applications normally while the cursor hovers over them as it should, but then I cant click anything. So I'm constantly stuck between either two situations concerning my mouse's left trigger. Either I can highlight applications but I cant click anything, or my mouse is stuck in a state like the left trigger is constantly being held down.

Now I read that formatting may resolve the issue but I wanna ask this community first before commiting to that.

Make and model mouse? Age? Condition? Wired, wireless...?

First, try another mouse to see if the problem continues.

Or try the mouse on another computer - see if the problem follows the mouse.

Do not format because you do not truly know what the problem is. And, even if you knew, it is unlikely that formatting will be necessary to fix the problem.



Reinstall the mouse drivers? Reconfigure the mouse.
