So I heard getting a curved monitor is not worth the extra money unless it supports 21:9. Was wondering if this is really true or not. Also if it is does anyone know a good curved 1440p 100hz+ monitor for under 500usd?

Best to see such monitors in a store for yourself.

A curved monitor should probably be the only monitor and should be centered in front of the person.
The wider the monitor, the more reason for a curve.
Edges are harder to see without a curve and if the panel is a fast tn panel, it will look washed out at the edges.

Worth is something only YOU can determine.
A monitor will last a long time so I advocate busting your budget to buy a really good one.

When I say worth I mean and increase in viewing quality and immersion. I heard a 16:9 curved screen isn't really better in these two things than a flat. And that they aren't improved unless the ultra wide screen supports 21:9
