Does anyone have custom BIOS for Asus x407UF? I upgraded my ram but it only runs at 2133mhz. Current BIOS does not have XMP or AI Tweaker options.

Oh gosh. My sincere apologies. When I first read your post, I genuinely thought you said an Asus X470, as in the motherboard. I may not have had my reading glasses on 🙄

I did not see until now that it's an Asus X407 laptop. Again, my apologies,

I've tried to have a look at the exact specs of your laptop. But Asus's website is absolute pants!!!

Can you run CPU-z and post a screenshot of the 'Memory' and also 'SPD' tab. Then I can tell you for sure.

Sadly I suspect your laptops max mem speed may indeed be 2133mhz. Even if you put faster mem in, it will run at default 2133mhz.

Will be able to tell for sure from CPU-z data. You may just be limited in terms of speed.

Funny thing is that if this was an AMD platform, you could use Ryzen Master to force memory settings yourself, even with a locked BIOS. Did so on an HP prebuilt machine with the blandest BIOS of all time, got 3000 MHz ram running well.

No idea why they exclude these options, not like they're harmful or the average user will mess with them anyway.

I also checked the manual but sadly, there isn't any stuff about the BIOS. 😕

Oh, and it was running at 2400mhz on its stock 4GB ram.

I wish XTU could do the same

Hey there,

I guess it's possible, because the DIMMS are mixed and matched a bit (Samsung + Kingston), and both have different timings even though both can run at Jedec 1200mhz, that it's just defaulting to the 2133mhz speed.

Most of the time, mixing different DIMMS won't be too much of an issue. But it's possible the mix doesn't play well with your mobo.

I'll be purchasing another Kingston DIMM to replace the stock SAMSUNG one.

But my problem is that I cannot adjust the speed.
There are no options in the BIOS.
I hope there are some other ways to do that.
