[SOLVED] Custom BIOS to avoid a corrupted VRAM ?

Recently my 1070 card broke down, I managed to pin down the cause, a corrupted VRAM module, so here's something that came to my mind, could I flash a custom BIOS on my GPU to reduce the VRAM thus avoiding the module, tweak it to not use the VRAM channel or ignore completely the module, When I ask a shop to fix my card they said it could cost as much as half the price as when I bought my card n I really don't want to pay that much for a fix that could last as little as 2 weeks so you think this could work or should I just give up on it, I really don't want to throw this away n if I could get any use from it I'll take it.

You can't mark "bad sectors" like on HDD. Have to replace faulty chip (might be faulty memory controller leg too) or get a new card.

In theory, you could, but it's not going to be a trivial task. You'd also lose performance as each memory channel is tied to 8 ROPs and 0.25MB of L2 cache.
