Hi,
i have now alsomst completed my multipurpose rig by using my old pc and upgrading it in 2 steps.
I now have:
Antec GX505 case with Corsair CX600 PSU, MSI Z97-G45, I7 4790K, 8GB Crucial DDR3 1600 CL9 RAM, 256GB Crucial SSD, GTX960 Phantom, 1 DVD drive.

The only thing missing is an advanced cooling system i had not planned on using. I have tried a few Aircoolers but none of them was actually good and quiet enough, so now im going to build a custom H2O cooling system to cool only the CPU.

Theres just a few tiny things i am not sure about yet.
-How much waterflow do i need to always keep my CPU cool, even when in OC TURBO mode AT 4,6GHZ ?
-how good will a 240 radiator perform on an overclocked 4790k ?
-should i get a tripple radiator instead?

Custom watercooling will cost you $600-$800. At least. Otherwise, you might as well get an AiO for similar performance. And instead of getting a noisy AiO water cooler, you can look at a noctua nh-d15 with the same cooling capacities as a H100i, for $20 less and 14dba less noise (less than half as loud).

Im strictly avoiding AIO, thats why the thread was named "Custom ..."
My budget is 200 €.

Sofar i have picked these components :

-XSPC X2O 420 Single Bayres with Pump 65€
-Tubing 5€
-CPU Cooler Cuplex Kryos Delrin 40€

Total 110€

My best idea sofar is to remove the 3,5" HDD cage and use the 260*120 space in the front for a Coolgate G2 240mm Radiator (with maybe noctua 14/15) and a 120mm radiator in the back. See my idea in this picture.

I could dremel out a little bit of the bottom 5,25" bay and fit a 275mm radiator aswell, but it wont ecatly match the fanpositions that way.

Could go for a swiftech H220x or 240x for starting AIO use, but is easily expandable for more components. Has a custom waterclock and uses a swiftech pump and rad, so the quality is there. My h220x has no problem for my OC'd 5820k and i'm going to expand for gpu when i buy a new one.

Now for rad sizing usually 120mm per component that is being cooled, and if overclocking more, so for a single OC'd gpu, and cpu prob two 240 or a 240 and 360. The pump should be a Laing D5 vario for the quality, reliability, and noise levels, but isnt really budget friendly. the Laing D5 is the oem most manufacturers call it the mpc665, and the Laing DDC is a cheaper solution for a pump, those two pumps give great waterflow, for a single gpu, cpu, dual rad setup.

If you are just doing the cpu, the swiftech H2x0X series is perfect as its custom quality components in an AIO, and the 240 and 360mm prefilled AIOs, from thermaltake and corsair show that going to 360mm doesnt really help a whole lot, but im not a custom loop expert.

the case i have makes this cooling system strictly custom. although i like the 220 it wouldnt fit in the space i have.
take a look at the picture above pls, i was afk for a long time and made the picture while editing my last post.

the H220x would fit in the front of the case, but the pic looks good for a loop and if you dont intend on adding a gpu block then you probably dont need to go with the rear 120mm rad, but i guess better safe than sorry lol.

You cant go a triple rad as you dont have room for it unless you meant three different radiators.

Just my personal opinion here, but if u dont intend to do a gpu block laterm, i dont see a reason to do just a custom cpu loop, but if u want to go custom, this video link is fairly good for a budget with parts lists. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SR9jEczwCZ4

Im adding the 120mm Radiator because im not sure yet if the 960 Phantom will be quiet enough if i keep it aircooled although i hope so. I might also need to cool my mainboard once i feel the need to actually overclock my system.

the swiftech is upgradable and it is probably one of the best AIOs ive seen sofar, but i still dont like the idea of having no reservoir and it also causes 33DBA noise. I think i can get a better cooling system for the price of a 220 + reservoir.

im looking for the radiator with the smallest length that i can find. the one i found is 272mm

I like Alphacool rads, as the build quality and pricing, and comes in 30mm 45m and 60mm + in almost all configurations, and for a good strong pump there is nothing better than the laing D5 vario, which from that res pic looks the D5 fits or comes with it. Issues with alphacool rads, they seem like they might be a little long, XSPC and EK rads are not bad either. It seems most 240mm rads are about 275-280mm long

yes, that is the average length. since ill have to dremel anyway i might aswell go with a radiator that is a little bit bigger. The only thing i am worried about is the fact, that the radiator needs to be flush with the bottom fan. there is no extra mm in the bottom of my case for anything.

Im still working on my custom ssd bay. this is my first idea. Ill just make 2 of these and screw the frames to the bottom of the case. My second idea was to make each frame from a single piece instead of making the small angle a seperate piece.

i cant find a radiator that will fit without cutting/dremeling parts out of the bottom of my case, too bad. i would have loved avoiding that.
