Hi guys and girls. I'm trying to build a custom computer but i am new and don't know my way around them very well so i came here to get some help. I am trying to build a computer specifically for programming and playing some games on the side. (e.g. rainbow six siege, fallout (series), witcher 3 etc) My budget is around $1500-$1600. Here are the Specs of what i got so far. Thank you in advance.

The i7-6700k is overkill for the games you will play. I suggest getting an i5-6600k which is still overclockable. Also, you don't exactly need a 500 GB SSD unless you will store your games there - which isn't the case here as you have a 2 TB Hard drive. I think a 120 GB or 250 GB will do just for putting in the OS and crucial programs. By lowering the budget on CPU and SSD, you could actually buy a better GPU like the GTX 1070 (perhaps even a GTX 1080 if your budget still allows it) that will be able to handle the 144Hz monitor perfectly. And also, do you really need a sound card? You could just get a really good headset instead and save more money.

You don't need sound blaster.
the 1050ti is too weak
the 1000Watt PSU is a serious overkill

the monitor you selected, I have no idea what it is and how much it cost, so i just put something similar 1080p@144Hz.

The i7 is exactly what needed for 144Hz monitor.
i5 with whatever overclock will be limiting perfromance in quite a few games. those CPU intensive games will not cross the 100-120 FPS even though GTX 1070 is capable (~70% GPU utilization)

Thank you very much on the very quick reply. I chose to use the i7-6700K because i have heard many things that could go wrong with overclocking and i did not want to the chance of breaking my new computer from my lack of knowledge on overclocking. Also If i did not look to overclock the i5-6600k will it still be able to run the said games and programs?

Thank you for the quick response.i will use this list to see what i can change on my build. btw is the sound card not needed to use head sets/phones or do i just need a head set and not a sound card

1. Modern motherboards have on board sound card. Decent boards like the one i listed have good onboard sound card.
2. Headsets that connect via USB, do not use computer audio card, they have their own.

Ok i see. this means i won't need one since i have a USB headset already. thank you very much i did not know some had built in sound cards and they are not needed if you have a USB headset/headphones.
