Custom Build or Alienware X51

I want a gaming PC but not one that will sooner or later crumble from games. I was thinking about getting the Alienware with i7 and the AMD Graphics card. I don't know if it is because of the eye-candy that comes with the X51 or if I think it is just good with the graphics card and processor. I am open to opinions, for I am looking for quality and a long life in terms of CPU stability. All I know is Alienware for gaming PC's, so if you know a better site that can supply a good PC (not really looking for a laptop) that is maybe cheaper, I'm all ears.

I belive dell makes alienware these days and you can build a better system then they will sale you and still have a arm and leg afterwards.

Alienware is not worth the price. If you are spending 1500 on an alienware you can build a better pc called a self build beast... not quite the same ring to it but why pay for a cool name

For the price it isn't bad but it wont be future proof and its lacking stable standing towards games now you can build far better.

There was a time when alienware rocked but you could always build a better system because most pc makers have to cut corners to make a profit.. In the end the customer pays for it.

Custom. Far cheaper, and you can get something more than a 760Ti.

I would rather have a prebuilt now than a custom later, so do you have any prebuilds that look okay specs wise. I will most likely make my own custom after a while, but for now I just need a prebuilt to get started. Maybe the Aurora with the GTX 770 for 1,699. Is that still overkill?

This is a far better build if your going off the flashy cool design then you will pay more for it to a pc maker..

Building a rig yourself I think is the only way to go. Not only can it save money but the money that is saved can go back into the rig for better parts. Plus company's like that always try to get you to get options you do not really need and cost more moneyin the long run.

Is a prebuilt going to be any faster than custom? Most places you can get the parts in 3-5 days, while prebuilts often want at least a week or two.

You can get a huge amount for $1700 US. That's pretty pricey for something with a 770.
