I've had my current build I've had since 2010 (built by work college) and now in the area of I now have the right monthly allowance to save up to rebuild. This time I will have to do it. Which is fine. I already have a case other parts I want to keep and just want the new bits for the inside. I used a custom build website once but can no longer find the one I used. Anything I want to keep is labelled in Red.

Current Build
Case: Casecom KM-6988 Black Mid Tower ATX Case with Full Black Interior/Exterior 120mm Red LED Front Fan
CPU: Intel Core i5 750 @ 2.67GHz Lynnfield 45nm Technology
RAM: 12.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 530MHz (7-7-7-20)
Motherboard: Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd. P55-US3L (Socket 1156)
Graphics: 1024MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 5700 Series (Sapphire/PCPartner)
Storage: 931GB Western Digital WDC WD10EALS-00Z8A0 ATA Device (SATA)/
298GB Western Digital WDC WD3200AAKS-00UU3A0 ATA Device (SATA)

Optical Drives: HL-DT-ST BD-RE BH10LS30 ATA Device
PSU: Corsair 550 Watt CX550M Semi Modular

While I've seen some GPU I like (Gigabyte Geforce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB G1). Looking and researching for a new MB taking longer. With mine I have been able to have my TV and PC Connected and have 5 out of 6 USB sockets all in use (it still going great but its so out of date!). I don't want to break the bank I only spent £600 back in 2010 before the odd lil upgrade here and there.

As for what I use it for. Its an all rounder. Cyberlink Director, PowerDVD, Gaming like Final Fantasy XIV. Rise of the Tomb Raider works ok, but needs to be set to low settings (looks horrible and jumpy). But as long as they are within the Xbox 360/PS3 range they work well. GTA 5 to.

Any recommendations, sites, ideas all welcome. Any further questions please let me know. Thank you

I would suggest a Ryzen build. If you don't want to break the bank, and you want the best deal possible then it's either the Ryzen 5 1600 or the Ryzen 3 1300X. Can you also tell us if you are using Wifi or Ethernet/LAN. And also budget.

This is the best price to performance Motherboard-$70

Ryzen 3 1300X ($130) or Ryzen 5 1400 ($190). Whichever.

The GTX 1050ti is fine for 1080p 40+ fps.

Best 8GB RAM

Best 16GB (cheapest, and it's even RGB)

I would retire both of those old SATA 3Gbps drives and get a 250GB SSD or M.2 drive. Using two of these Western Digital WD VelociRaptor WD5000HHTZ 500GB in RAID 0 will give you a fast 1TB array for games.

ty I use Ethernet/LAN.

ty All replies I am saving for my research. But while I understand the benefits of SSD I'm going to not worry about those for now.

1300x if you want to go AMD
i3 8100 if you want to go Intel

The prices are roughly the same, although Intel will beat 1300x in gaming by a decent margin.

In professional tasks both CPUs would be equally fast.

I recommend:
i3 8100 ($119): https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117822&cm_re=i3_8100-_-19-117-822-_-Product
ASRock Z370 ($129): https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157796
GEIL 16GB ($159): https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820158605&cm_re=DDR4-_-20-158-605-_-Product

bad choices

go intel i5 8100 + z370 mobo with a gtx 1050 ti

8gb of ddr4 is fine, 16gb if you can find a good price

re-use your case and power supply

get yourself a new 1TB hard drive, like the WD caviar blue
