Hi, I recently built my first computer.
At first after I plugged everything in and turned it on, nothing happened.
I checked the PSU and discovered that it wasn't working so I went out and picked up another one.
After taking it home and reinstalling it, everything turns on (fans are spinning) but there is no display and no beeps (I connected headphones to front panel audio jack). From what I've read, it could be the GPU, mobo, or CPU but I don't know how to check for each. I don't really have access to another mobo or CPU to check those. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here are the specs of my build

WD Caviar Blue 1TB SATA Hard Drive
COOLMAX ZX Series ZX-700 <which replaced> SolidGear 650W PS2 ATX PSU
SAPPHIRE RADEON R9 270 2GB DDR5 PCI-E
AMD FX-8350 EIGHT-CORE 4GHZ 16MB 125W AM3+CPU
MSI 970A-G46 9 Series AM3+ Motherboard
ADATA XPG V1 DDR3 1600 4GB DESKTOP MEMORY BLUE

Another thing to check would be to make sure you have a 12v rail plugged into the board. The connector is the 8 pin slot in the upper left of the board.

Hello, have you tried plugging your display into the corresponding port on the motherboard and not the GPU? I would check there because if it is a problem with the GPU, the display from the motherboard may be working just fine. This will give you a quick check to see if it is the GPU that is the problem. Also make sure that there is a motherboard speaker included with your motherboard. Lack of one of these could be the reason there is no beep. These are just suggestions that are quick ways to troubleshoot. There is also the possibility of having to use legacy mode, depending on your operating system. This can halt the GPU from operating if you are using Windows 8 and secure boot. Best of luck!

Are you referring to the "ATX 8-pin power connector"? That is the only thing I see that is not plugged in. I didn't know I had to plug that in because I already have the "ATX 24-pin power connector" plugged in? I'm just making sure because I don't wanna short anything out before trying it.

Update: Plugged that in and it worked!! Sad thing now is that the screen says "CPU or memory has changed" but I guess that's a whole nother issue I gotta deal with. Thank you!

Thank you for your suggestion I will try plugging into the motherboard as soon as I get the wires I need. Oh, I didn't know motherboards had speakers. Okay, I'll post after I have tried it out.

Glad to hear that helped.
