Custom built PC turns on for 30 seconds then shuts off again

New computer build won't run properly :/ I have just built a new pc with the following specs:

mobo: ASRock X370 gaming K4

cpu: AMD Ryzen 7 1800x

ram: G skill trident Z rgb 2x8gb

gpu: Asus strip geforce gtx 1080ti

psu: Corsair RM 550x

storage: m.2 samsung 960 evo

Case(incase this matters): corsair crystal series 460x


Built everything together and went to run it, and it worked for about 30 seconds and then everything turned off, and started back up again within a couple seconds. This loop continues on and on. Alongside this I also don't have any video output.

what I've tried so far:

- tested the build with 1 stick of ram in different slots

- used onboard graphics to try and get video but didn't work...same as above, would run for 30sec and turn off along with no video.

Ive read about similar issues on the forums already and saw it may be a thermal paste issue, buying some tomorrow to see if that might possibly fix. other than that I've run out of ideas and was wondering if you guys have any suggestions/tips/solutions.

you are not going to have any onboard functional video, so give up that approach, it is not functional for pre-2000 series processors...

Disconnect everything, all drives (SATA conenctors and SATA power), and see if rig will at least power on and stay on with no GPU at all installed.... (does your PSU have a pair of PCI-e pwr conenctors for the GPU. and are both connected? ONe stick of RAM in required slot. If rig stays powered on with no GPU installed but beeps/displays an error code about no display adapter, that would be good. Perhaps your PSU is not handling the GTX1080, for whatever reason, even though it should. Do you have a lesser GPU you can test/borrow?

Double check that pair of CPU power 4 pins is connected to mainboard,,,,

i apologize for the late reply, had to wait for the thermal paste to arrive. I have reapplied the paste, fitted a single RAM, and disconnected all of the SATA connectors. No GPU installed. ensured that all of the plugs are plugged in, however, when i turned it on it did the same as before, ran for about 30 seconds, then shut back off :/

The "dr. debug" as described in the booklet of the mobo (little 2 digit display) has a CO code, which i will look into now, if it has anything to do with the problem at all. If i take my pc knowledge and apply it, surely if the problem was in the psu it wouldnt turn on at all, so is it safe to assume the problem is either in the cpu or the mobo? thanks for your help!

Remove your components from the case and try to turn it on... Breadboard it.

After research and testing, the c0 code means problems with the cpu. So I've sent back the cpu and the mobo, bought the x370 killer SLI mobo instead and the same cpu. It all works now. According to what I've found I think the mobo was faulty. But all good now so thanks for all th e replies guys!
