Custom built system - What's it worth?

Dec 19, 2012

I just recently completed my second custom build. This one is a bit tamed down from my first which was a gaming PC. I have pre-installed Windows 7 Ultimate and Microsoft Office 2010 Professional on the system. The following is a belarc read-out on the internals and my only question is, how much can I sell it for?

Every component is brand-new, it benchmarks wonderfully, but how much could I sell it locally (craigslist) for? I think I'd get pummeled on eBay.
Because it's generic, you're going to get pummeled anywhere you sell. Folks here think that custom built is the best way to go, but Joe Blow out there still prefers to see a name on his system, even Dell. I wouldn't ask more than $350 for your system. You'll be lucky to get that; there's too much competition on craigslist.

brand new its probably worth around $525, you can probably get $400-450 out of it used. its less likely that you will be able to sell it on craigslist, most people on craigs are component hunting and only want specific parts.

dont take less than $375

Thanks for the quick reply. Damn, I'm lucky that the components I used to build it computer basically fell off the back of a tractor-trailer in terms of price.

I'd take $500 but I'm asking $720 at the moment on FB and Craigslist
