For my next build, i want to use custom cooling, but i'm terrified if any water leaks and if i'll be covered like how NZXT and other companies cover you if their AIO leaks. Could you guys give me more info on warranties, advice, videos to watch, etc. so i know more and am less scared to do this. My AIO went out recently (I think lack of water), and i should be getting a warranty exchange for it soon, but i would really like to be able to refill and hear custom gives better cooling than aio, though more expensive.

I'm getting mixed results for if mineral oil voids the warranty of your components, is this true?
I was thinking of using my old computer parts for a mineral oil build, what case would be good for this? Can it have a window? How can you tell it won't leak or do you need to buy stuff to fill the holes? Do you need to modify anything, like the cpu or gpu fans, is the fans spinning a bad thing since that'd create more heat right? How often do you need to replace the mineral oil? Any other info, sites, etc. lmk.

Thank you in advance.

Distilled/de-mineralized water is not electrically conductive and there are additives that make it even less so. There are also dozens of ready made mixes that can be used but make sure they are for mixed metal applications, AIO are almost 100% copper for pump and aluminum radiators. If your AIO has a plug (usually located on the radiator), fine but if not you can always remove heat exchanger/hot plate on the pump but that would also require changing gaskets. Most common loss of liquid in AIOs is hose permeation of liquid in which case adding a little bit of Distilled/de-mineralized water is quite enough,
As for immersion in mineral oil, a glass fish tank is normally used, glass instead of plastic because plastic can be damaged or even melted by it, Also have to take into account glue used to hold glass together, silicon which is used most can be dissolved in mineral oil. There are other complications, heat spreaders and paste/pads also have to be oil resistant, fans removed an pump is needed to circulate oil and eventually some heat exchanger to cool oil.
Part manufacturers would surely void warranty if they know about it, generally they wouldn't miss an opportunity to void warranty if anything but recommended material and type off cooling is used,
All of that would end up being way more expensive than replacing AIO

We have a watercooling sticky;
should you choose to delve into the world of custom watercooling.

AIO's operate with a special fluid...if you use anything outside of their formula, you're either going to allow for galvanic corrosion to happen or impede your cooling performance. Thermaltake premixes are worse than anything out there. I recall EKWB had a venture with Mayhems fluids which had inhibiters for galvanic corrosion but they ask you to avoid mixing metals in your loop. The fluid used in AIO's are usually a glycol and distilled water concoction.

Regarding mineral oil cooling, there are multiple threads on this forum...the short story is;
don't bother, it's just not worth the resources dropped into it.

Moved thread from Systems section to Cooling section.

Wait, are you suggesting mineral oil for an immersion cooling build or a cooling loop? While people will do mineral oil for immersion cooling -- though it's a showpiece thing, not something you really want to operate for daily use -- it would be an absolutely abysmal solution for a cooling loop. Mineral oil has much worse thermal conductivity than water or common solutions, you'll have viscosity issues with the pump and very quick gunk buildup in the blocks.
