Custom DNS server wont remember itself

Hi when i go to: Control panel > Network and internet > Network and sharing center > Change Adaptor Settings > Local Area Connection > Internet Protocol 4 and try and set my own IP address for Ease of running my own server for me and my friends to play games on i have to set a DNS server as well, i just set it the same as my default gateway but everytime i restart my pc the internet does not work and when i go back to IPv4 There is no number in the Preferred DNS server.

Try doing it in Administrator command prompt. Run this cmd line: netsh interface ip set dns name=”Local Area Connection” static 127.0.0.1(for example).

Just tryed that, i will see if it works next time i restart my pc, if it does ill pick you as the solution.

For some reason now its basically the exact same issue its just the "default gateway" number (192.168.1.1) disappears every time i restart.

Is the DNS still having its issue, o is it only the default gateway now? Also, what version of windows?

im using windows 7 and it is the default gateway.
