I am new to water cooling and I am not sure how many radiators and what size radiators I should use. My case is the Thermaltake Overseer and it has very limited rad support. I was going to get the XSPC Raystorm kit that has the EX240 radiator and the 750 res/pump. I was also going to an EX120 for a second radiator. Both radiators are 35.5 mm thick I have an i7 4770k running at stock and an R9 290x 8GB. Do you think this will be enough to cool my system?

with the 290x's heat output im going to say no . if your overclocking cpu+gpu then its a big no .probly want 4 x120 rad spots min im just guessing fromw what ive heard the 290x is a heat monster at 290 TDP . i think the sweet spot is 45-50w per rad space thats for you cant even hear the fans on so you would need a quad 120 + single/dual 120 to just cool the gpu .
this is with decent fans gently typhoons, ek vardars, corsair sp pwm fans not crazy priced ones like delta's are if you want to spend 30+ on each fan then you could probably get away with just 360mm of space but it will nearly take off the pc and fly around your room at 8-10k RPM's .

really you want 120mm per device + another 120mm if it is overclocked . also i believe that...

really you want 120mm per device + another 120mm if it is overclocked . also i believe that kit pump kinda sucks . get the V2 version since its better if you really want a bay res . i dont like them in the least they are a pain to bleed and air can be sucked in my the pump very easy. dcc/d5 are very good pumps if you want another pump

here are some other kits for you to look at some are 360 rads some are 240

if you really like your case there is always option b which is put the rads external outside the case like a 4x 120 square rad or 9x120 which probably is overkill for your needs unless you plan on ever getting a second 290x then it may be worth getting

I don't really plan on overclocking, but the 290x does but out a lot of heat. I just want to water cool to keep noise levels down. Do you think that it would be ok if I got just thicker rads or do you think the extra length is the way to go? I might be able to fit a 360mm rad if i drill my own holes but i am not super comfortable with that. I am going with that kit because I have heard good things about it and I don't want to spend too much.
