I am looking to build a gaming pc for around 2200$ (CDN) in the coming months.
I have a keyboard and mouse but I will need a monitor, likely 1080p, around 22" preferrably an IPS. I cannot fit a 27" monitor on my desk, so no 1440p 🙁
Usage:
Heavy Gaming, light video and image editing
Requirements:
1. 12gb of Ram at least (on my current computer, a laptop, i often use around 10 gb)
2. At least 256 gb of SSD and 2 tb of hd, but more SSD storage is preferred. I was considering expanding my budget to include a Samsung 840 evo 500gb
3. Windows 8 (it's what I am used to)
Questions and concerns:
1. i5 4670 vs i7 4770
Is the extra performance of the i7 worth it for my usage? Or will the upgrade path of the i5 cause me difficulties later on?
gtx 780ti or 780? Is it possible to build a 780ti into the build without sacrificing on any area, or will the 780 suffice? I would prefer to have the 780ti so the computer will last longer, but I have to be reasonable.
Is it worth waiting for the upcoming intel processors?
I might overclock, and if I do it will not be giant, just enough to get whatever processor I buy to to 4.0 GHZ.
This will be my first actual desktop, and it will be a significant improvement over gaming on a laptop. I have a mouse and keyboard (both high end), so those are not needed. The only IO device I will need is a monitor.
I do not want to use AMD parts, no offense to AMD fans. I want the ability to buy g-sync and use shadow play.
Thank you so much for any answers.
