Question Custom PC Build Keeps Cutting Out - Help Please

Hello,

I have recently built a new PC and it keeps randomly cutting out. The best way I can describe it is like you have overclocked your CPU too much and the PC just cuts out / shuts down. The mobo rgb lights stay on as do the case fans. I have to hold the power button down to turn off the PC, or sometimes this doesn't work and I have to turn off the PSU switch.

It's not temps as cpu doesn't break 70c under 100% load, gpu is around 70c at 100% load.

This problem has happened while the PC is idle and also while playing games.

The PC is set to defaults now, no OC. I thought it might have been the PSU as i kept this from my 7 yr old PC. I've bought a new PSU and the problem still occurs.

Build is:

Ryzen 5 2600 CPU
Asus Prime X370-PRO mobo
Zotac RTX 2060 GPU
Corsair PSU 850w (new PSU 750w)
Corsair Vengeance Lpx 16gb (2 X 8gb) Memory Kit Pc4-19200 2400mhz Ddr4 Dimm C14
Deepcool Castle 360 RGB AIO
Deepcool RGB case fans x4

I would really appreciate your help as I am stumped by this and not sure where to go from here.

psu protection for sure kicks in
try to run your PC barebone (as low amount of connected stuffs as possible)
u could also try surge protector

Start by physically inspecting your build.

Ensure that all cable connections and card seatings are fully and firmly in place. May have felt so when the PC was first built - first time connections tend to feel tighter when they actually are not as they should be.

Use bright flashlight and magnifying glass to look for signs of damage, possible electrical shorts where metal is in contact with a cable. Some wire that got kinked or pinched perhaps.

Windows 10?

Look in Reliability History and Event Viewer for error codes and warnings that correspond with the time of the random cut outs.

Try running the built-in Windows troubleshooters. They may find and fix something.

Likewise you can run "sfc /scannow" (without quotes) via the command prompt. May find and repair corrupted files.

Thanks Kerberos ad Ralston for your input. I'm disconnecting items atm 1 by 1 to try and isolate. I do already have a surge protector.

I have reseated everything about 2 or 3 times, but I'll check again for anything loose and also check the cables. I'll inspect for damage.

Yes, Windows 10. I did check Event Viewer but it didn't seem much help, it just says 41 Kernal Power. Reliability History is similar, windows was not properly shut down.

No problems found with the troubleshooters.

I welcome any other ideas or input.

UPDATE: I'm still having this issue.

I have ruled out the following by either disconnecting/replacing/using old:
GPU
PSU
PC Case
RGB lighting
RGB hubs/cable
Case fans
Motherboard

I've just replaced the motherbaord and still have the issue. I'm currently trying a different SSD drive with a fresh Windows install.

After that there really is only the CPU, RAM and CPU AIO cooler left.
