Alright, I am sick of my XPS 410 freezing and then me having to restart it, or restart itself! Now, I think I want to try a custom PC build. Anyone recommend any parts?

Solution
So I took about $1000 and tried to put together something you could use. It's built on an ATX motherboard with enough slots for any expansion you might like. It can just as well be swapped for mATX motherboard, if you don't intend to run multiple GPUs and want to have smaller case. The GPU should be swapped for the soon-coming GTX 1070, which is about the same price, but faster...just wait a couple weeks. The CPU is great for pretty much any modern game, but if you want something even more powerful, you can swap it for some i7 or swap the motherboard for Z170 chipset with overclockable CPU.

I think this is a a great start point to work from. Components can be swapped for other brands with almost no price change.

Again, a good budget may mean $1000 for some, but $3000 for others ;)

Now, do you want it to be a gaming PC, office PC, multimedia PC, workstation PC? What is your typical use of a PC?

Now let us know what you think about the price. This setup (even better with the gtx 1070) will be good enough for ultra details in any game in 1080p and 1440p @ 60+ fps.

EDIT: Note you have to add PC case, case fans, peripherals, display and so on....
