I recently built a custom gaming PC, but when I hooked it up to our moniter (moniter is all good, no breaks), and plugged it in and pressed the power button, it wouldn't turn on. I waited for over a minute. I re-opened it and went through, but all the pieces were alright, nothing broken, no static electricity ruined anything, and all the cords were in the right places. The build was one I found online with decent reviews for $450 or so, and here it is now after I checked its compatibility on PC Part Picker. https://plus.google.com/u/1/photos/photo/104305825072731434268/6472025409709966610?icm=false&iso=true&authkey=CLGSvPm44Pf4OA

Solution
You either don't have something plugged in or something is broken, you can't just tell a broken part by looking at it if that is what you did.

Make sure the power leads from the case to the motherboard are in the right place, the power supply is set to the right country setting and has the on/off switch to on if there is one on the back. Have someone that built computers before look over your connections. Try with a known good power supply.
