I built myself a new computer and it seems to be running a little hot. I've looked around online for a solution, but no one seems to match my rig.

PSU: Apevia Warlock 750w
MB: ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0
CPU: AMD FX 8120 8 core 3.1ghz
GPU: 4gb XFX Radeon R7 370
RAM: 16GB (4x4) Ripjaw 1866

I have two side fans, one of which is blowing it, the other out, two exhaust fans, a front fan, yet Speedfan says Temp 1 goes up to 75/80C when playing games. It used to be 60/65C.

Solution
Compatible won't make your CPU run hot.
I'd think about ditching the side fans entirely, or at least make them exhaust,
with them directly blowing into the airflow, and also beating up on your CPU fan.
Can you add them instead to your front to rear airflow?
Also, you should look at a better CPU cooler regardless. Heard about the Cooler Master EVO 212
thru this place, and love it. Good time to make sure everything's clean at the same time
My case is the Rosewill Challenger. And both fans were pointing out, until I read that they should be pointing in, so I just flipped one around, and it didn't really change much. I was thinking I might have put some parts together that don't work well together or something.

You can get a aftermarket air cooler for that case, you will probably have to remove the top side fan for it to fit though.Something like the hyper 212 evo would be good
If the pc is olde rthe thermal paste might have degraded increasing your cpu temps

My first question is also if the 2 side fans are on the same side of the case.
I'd need to see it as well, but it is fairly likely they're competing with each
other and destroying airflow.
Has anything else changed between your once cooler temps and these new ones?
Is the comp by a furnace vent?
Are you confident in your thermal paste application and the fan seating?

I'd like to see a pic of the case and fan placements regardless because you may also
gain some thermal reduction performance there.

Okay so I uploaded pictures of the rig, and flipped around that other fan, so now they are both blowing in. It's not by a furnace, and I don't believe anything caused the change that I know of. I used to play a lot of GTA V Online with it, and one day it just started running hotter, so I stopped. Also I have applied thermal paste to other processors and they have worked fine, so I am pretty confident I did it correctly.

I had a system once that was getting hot, and to me this just seemed like a problem that came out of the blue. When i checked the CPU cooler, it was full of dust!! Once i had this cleaned out the temps went back to normal.

I don't think it's been long enough for that much dust to get in it, it's a little dusty, but these things can get a lot worse. Thing is they weren't quite normal in the first place though. Like maybe some parts aren't really compatible together maybe?

Solution
I don't see any other places to put the fans. Also if you look up that motherboard, it seems to have a third heatsink on it that mine doesn't have to the left of the processor. Could that be an issue? It didn't come with it, and even when I sent back for a replacement the other one didn't have one either.

I'm not an AMD pro, but if it's anything like an Intel board, then it looks like your two bridges are covered. Not sure what that area's for...have you tried touching it to see how hot it feels (seriously) ?
You may want to try better heat monitoring software too. I use Lavalys Everest (Ultimate). Search it and try the free one as well.
I still say upgrade the CPU cooler regardless

I'm starting to think I should not have gotten the LE version... Too late to return it. I will look in to getting the Cooler Master for it, anyway, see if that helps. If not I might just buy the non LE version.

I've used three different programs to read it, and they all say the same thing. Unfortunately this isn't just speedfan being dumb. Also yes, it's too hot to keep my hand on it.

Just looked up your board again and it defaulted to the Canadian page.
The motherboard shown there doesnt have that extra cooling fins 🙁

Seen this:

"If you OC with just the multiplier alone, you should be safe. When it gets to the point that it is no longer stable, avoid the temptation to increase the vcore with that 4+2 power phase board. You can help a little by adding an after market heat sink on the VRM's mosfets.
