Custom pc won't connect to moniter

I've been working on a custom pc for almost half a year now. I got all the components and everything connected. When I plug in the power supply, everything works. When I plug the pc into the moniter via hdmi nothing happens. I've plugged my PS4 into the moniter before and it has worked. Please help.
