Hi guys, I'd really appreciate your advice / input here.

I'm looking to get a high spec, good value rig. I'm aiming for something compact. My previous build was an i5 3570k with Noctua dh14 @ 4.4ghz, 16gb ram, 4gb evga gtx 670 housed in a nzxt phantom 410. I had to move abroad recently so I'd like to replace it with something more compact that at least matches, if not beats, it's performance.

I quite like the look of the bitfenix prodigy case, but I know there are probably lots more options worth looking at, so if you have any thoughts here please do let me know!

I'm not avert to sourcing everything and building from scratch myself, but only if there's money to be saved by doing so. I'd prefer to go for a pre-built system if the price difference is negligible.

I'd love to know if there are any particular vendors that you guys might recommend approaching. I received a quote of just over 1k for the following build which was catered to my request. Do you think this is a decent price or should I look elsewhere?

It excludes a few key components that I'll be looking to buy at a later date. I intend on purchasing a second hand graphics card/checking sales and special offers. It uses the 4670k, which looks great, but I wonder if there's much to be gained from looking towards a 4690k? I know very little about motherboards, so I'm very willing to be educated in that regard! I'd also prefer to go for 16gb of ram to match my previous rig. Power Supplies are another thing I'm pretty clueless about. I'm not sure what I should be looking for. I'd be looking to overclock cpu only; I don't want to skimp out, but I don't want anything overkill.

I love small cases. One of my favorites is the lian li Q08
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112265
It is light, made of aluminum, and small 13.58" x 8.94" x 10.71"
It uses a standard atx psu and will hold a long Graphics card.

Perhaps the main limitation is cpu cooler height.
I use a noctua NH-L12 cooler which fits and seems to be sufficiently efficient and quiet.
It cools an overclocked G3258. I would imagine you would have no problem with a 4690K @4.2
The 4690K has better thermals and is probably worth it in a small case.
If $100 is not that important to you, the i7-4790K will be a better binned chip that runs at 4.0 and 4.4 turbo at stock.

I strongly suggest you use a more modern graphics card with a...
I have the ITX Bitfenix Prodigy. It's a very nice case, but it's also quite big for a Mini-ITX system, and somewhat heavy. It actually comes near some mATX cases in size. You might want to look at the EVGA Hadron or the ThermalTake Core V1 if you want something really compact that can still fit full-size video cards.

I strongly suggest you use a more modern graphics card with a blower type cooler. It will keep your case cooler. Look for a evga GTX770 or GTX780 with a stock cooler.

Thermaltake is a cheap psu, buy a better quality unit.
Seasonic, xfx, antec or similar. 650w should be sufficient.
