Custom TV Box guide

Hi, I'm wondering, about a custom android tv box. I wanna make one and program it using android ois available, what parts would I need to do this project because I wanna save money and not spend $150-200 just for one tv box that people sell. I wanna be able to put xbmc or kodi to run with the box full screen and such.

i just put kodi on my laptop, and i recently got a firestick just for the tv in the living room and put the "pulse" flavor xbmc on there and it works fine. the pi woudl be the way to go + being able to add additional storage with external hard drive ect..
