Was wondering if someone who had built their own laptop could give me some advice. I want to build my own laptop. but have no idea on where to start. a gtx 770m laptop is what im aiming for. all these "customize" laptop shops are pissing me off cause on a same model but lower price(due to options) you cant upgrade the gpu?. doesnt make sense. Could someone lead me in the right direction?.

Thanks

Sorry, but you are a bit too late for the DIY laptop which more or less died sometime around 2007 / 2008.

You are no long able to buy barebone components anymore because there are no stores that sells them to the consumers anymore. For example, you cannot just buy the Clevo W650SR chassis and motherboard so that you can install your own CPU. Laptop graphics card (MXM form factors) are also not sold to consumers which makes it very difficult to buy one outside of eBay on the rare occasions when they do pop up for auction.
You cannot build your own laptop. Some websites will let you customize almost all parts of a laptop to your liking, but they are quite expensive usually for changing things. Try Toshiba's customization pages.
GPUs on laptops are usually soldered onto the motherboard and cannot be changed so it is very practical to offer to switch all parts that are not soldered like the CPU, RAM, HDD, etc. but not the GPU.

But you cannot build your own laptop. The closest you could get is to find a laptop you like which looks like you want and has a GPU you want in it, and then you can buy it and change the HDD, RAM, often the CPU, on rare occasions the LCD. Extremely rare systems have a GPU in a port and can be changed but they are rare and expensive. Sometimes the DVD drive but after that you can't change anything. No company or website will have a just empty laptop case you can buy though with different motherboards you can buy for it from multiple manufacturers and etc.
