Hello,
I'm very new to Windows 10 and skipped everything since 7, so I feel I'm in a bit an alien territory. I noticed I kinda liked the "new" start menu, where you can, in theorym arrange them quick icons as pretty appealing display window. It felt like a fun idea to make it into something of mine own. Then I discovered Microsoft really doesn't want to give much freedom to customize it too heavily. Gotta have that Skype showing logo of the Skype and all that. This restriction makes sense for the mammoth corporations ruling over us all as god emperors, but as a normal user I see no point in using this re-imagined Start menu it unless I get to decide Icons freely, pick how they appear and which shortcuts are available. Otherwise isn't my start menu as much as it is menu of Facebook and Microsoft.
After some googling, I found an app called Tile Creator that does just this. My understanding is, it creates something not unlike an old fashioned desktop shortcut. You get to customize shortcut path, Icon, etc. It can result in nice, properly personalized start screen. My question is, does this program do something that could appear as " suspicious activity" in radar of Massively Multiplayer Online game admins and such? Does it modify the launch routine of original .exe in some false-alarm fashion? Does it appear as " third party activity" on environment where hacking a game's exe is daily and monitored threat?
related question:
Is there some safe, established and more " conventional" way to do this? To clarify, I wish full customizability to the "new" start bar. Which icons it uses, where the said icons take me, etc.
