After much agony putting together, testing, and (what took most time) trying to work out how to get windows on without a disk my PSU seems to have packed in as soon as I put the build all together.
So I tested everything outside the case and it worked great. I put everything in the case and we are all good. I then go off to try and work out windows and come back. Now, when i turn the PSU on at the back I get flicker from all the fans and everything goes dead.
Googling shows that this happens with this model/make and the problem seems to be insufficient load on the PSU...or something. Either way, I just want to fix it. How? Is the best option just to return and get another make?
I am running asus h87pro4, i54670, msi r9 280x, wd blue 1tb, corsair vengeance 8gb, and cx600.
Really need help here guys, thanks.
Edit: I should say I tried the paperclip test and the PSU fan didn't run. I am assuming that my fiddling has made the problem worse now as I can't get even get a flicker from the fans. At the moment, my plan is just to return and try the same model again.

Yes, that is indeed what I have decided. It still would be good to know if it my fault, if something is incompatible, or if this is just a dud. The fact that problem is known suggests that I am just going to have the same problem when I get another one, which I am doing. Should I get seasonic or xfx instead?

OK, after considering my options I am just going to send for a replacement...Getting refunded and everything takes too long. I strongly suspect that, given what I have read about this product, I am going to have send that back as well and this is some kind of compatibility issue but it just takes too long to refund and order a new one...I suppose at the very least I can confirm whether it is a compatibility issue or not.
