CX 750 80+bronze with GTX 980 SLI x2

can i run 2 980's in sli on a 750W PSU ? i tried to run 1 980 on a CX500 and it kept turning my computer off under load i resolved it with a 750W PSU but can i run 2?

I have an FX 8320 CPU at 4.5Ghz and 2x4GB RAM, an SSD with 2 HDD and corsair H80iGT CPU cooler on a ASUS sabertooth 990FX R2.0 motherboard

You really need an 850w, you might have got away with it if you had a better quality 750w but the CX range are poor units so it would be unadvisable to even try it encase you PSU fails and damages other components

I wouldn't.

The recommended PSU for SLI'd 980's is 750w, however the CX750 is a known problem (as shown by your CX500 failing when the 980 should be ok on it). You can try it, but I'm pretty sure it will not work well. It will crash. We have complaints about the CX series all the time here.

You want to get yourself an EVGA 750B2 or 850 B2 or G2.

I wouldn't recommend it that is not a very good power supply. It will probably power it but I would be uncomfortable having 1000+ dollars worth of graphics cards hooked up to a cheap low quality psu like that. Its in tier 4 of the psu tier list, not very good.

thanks for a quick reply and i understand but if you could Imagen buying this type of power costs a lot and im ony 19 so money is a problem when you're addicted to buying PC hardware...

thanks for a quick reply and i understand but if you could Imagen buying this type of power costs a lot and im ony 19 so money is a problem when you're addicted to buying PC hardware...

If you can afford an additional $500 GPU you can afford to spend $100 on a EVGA 850B2.

I don't mean to sound rude but this happens countless times on here. And then folks wonder why their system crashes all the time, or worse, they have a $2000 paperweight when it inevitably fails.

i just got my new motherboard and my CPU was brought early this year it will be upgraded to intel on DDR 4 later next year

I have a 6 core AMD, and 2 cards that have a lower TDP. I pull down 600 watts at full tilt. Your CPU uses more power than mine and your cards need more power.

No problem this is an excellent power supply that will serve you now and you can use for future builds. It has a 10 year warranty and should easily last even longer than that.
