I'm building a PC, and my current components are:
Radeon HD7979
4x 4GBs of DDR3 ram
I7 950 Cpu w/ Hyper 212 evo on a Asus P6X58D-E motherboard, so which power supply should i go for?
The CX500 or VS650?

Solution
from what I found on the web the Aerocool is somewhat shady and cheap
that being sad the CM G550M is not really a quality unit either. if you got a really stable power grid it's probably fine though.

looking at the pricing, spending some 15pounds extra for a quality unit is certainly worth it
they're both pretty bad, but the VS is better than the CX while usually heavy overpriced

however if there's a CXM550 available or a RM(x)550 go with that
or you know... Seasonic / XFX (all but XT) if you're on a budget
Evga GS / G2 / B2 if you can splash some cash

Ok, thanks

However, if i'm going with a £40 power supply, which one should i get?

Don't go with a 40 pounds PSU. Simple as that. There's no unit that will properly and continuously power your setup unless you find one of these units on sale:

XFX: TS / Pro / Core
Seasonic: S12 / S12II / M12II / RT / G
Corsair: CXM550 / CXM650 / RM / RMx (/Vengeance /(VS))
EVGA: Supernova GS / G2 / B2 (/NEX)
Superflower Leadex / King Gold / Green Hx

Units in ( ) are sheer minimum if you really really really can't find one of the units above

Are these power supplys good?
Aerocool 550 watt XPredator ACP-X550G Hybrid Modular PSU/Power Supply
Cooler Master G550M 550W Hybrid Modular Power Supply
If so which one is better/reliable?
