CX500M Enough Power?

Planning on buying a GTX 970 Black Friday or Christmas and I need to know if my CX500M is enough to power my build. I havea pre-built CyberPower GU2203 with the FX 6300 OC'd to 4.0 Ghz and 8GB RAM. If I put a GTX 970 in, will I be good?

Yeah, it'll do. The system you're running can be powered by a 400w, but a 500w is perfect.

...and so with a OC'd CPU (and I presume GPU), you should monitor your 12V rail values at least periodically. If you start having 'weird' issues suddenly in the future, keep your PSU in mind first during troubleshooting....it's lifespan will be shortened pushing it to its limit.

Yes, however Corsair CX shouldn't be used when overclocking and generally could also be better for the price point compared to competition.

Yes, your system should run okay for ordinary tasks, but if you stress test it all bets are off. Running GPU compute heavy tests such as Furmark are likely to cause your GPU to draw enough to put the +12 volt rail over what is safe for that power supply. It's a tier 4 unit, which means it's of very questionable quality, and doesn't have any extra capacity to handle the peak current on the +12 volt from both the particular CPU and GPU you have installed. Expect random issues such as shut downs, driver TDR errors, etc. As it was said previously, at the first sign of system instability, your PSU is the first suspect. I would recommend an upgrade to a better PSU to be your next investment for that machine.
