CX750 vs. RM750?

I am building a new mid to high end pc to replace my old budget build. In my old build I have a Corsair CX750 psu that has worked fine for the two years I've had it despite being a bit loud. I am concerned, however, that I may be putting my other components at risk by using this low end power supply. Will I be ok with the CX, or should I play it safe and shell out the $130 or so for a new RM750? Also, will there be much noticeable noise difference? My budget isn't unlimited and money spent on the new psu would mean a lesser GPU but at the same time I don't want to skimp too bad. Thanks for the help

Evga has a fully modular 750 watt 80+ Gold PSU for about $90
