Bought a new cyberpower pc gma2800bst. Thought it would work online games . Son first download was Rust . Shuts computer down after 10 minutes every time. And then computer will not turn back on with flipping switch in back. Do I try another one and exchange at Best Buy?? Will it happen again? Do I try a different brand and if so which one?? I am a Mon with NO knowledge about gaming PCs !! Help!!

Solution
Sounds like it could be an issue with overheating. You can install temperature monitoring software to check the temps. The CPU cooler (heatsink + fan) could have come loose. When the CPU get's too hot it will shut itself down. This could be fixed by trying to wiggle the heatsink, if it feels loose then check for pushpins on the four corners. They either push in or push in and twist to lock in place. Or the cooler has srews instead of pushpins, in which case it was either not installed properly or it's not loose at all.

It could also be a poor quality power supply, which CyberPowerPC is know for including in their builds. If that's the issue and you don't want to replace it with a good quality power supply, then I'd return the system...

How old is your son? If it's your sons computer he should be learning how to troubleshoot and maintain it. Computers are not fool proof, but companies like Dell try to make them be. That's why I'd recommend a Dell over CyberPowerPC/IBuyPowerPC to anyone who doesn't like fooling around with their computer's hardware.

Hardware monitoring programs:

This question is very confusing.
The switch on the back of your pc should ALWAYS be set to "1" which means on. That switch doesnt turn on the pc, it sends power to it. The only button you should have to press is the button on the front.
What happens when it "shuts off"? Do all the lights in the PC turn off at once, or do you get a bluescreen? Does it only happen when your son fires up a game?

Don't open your computer up until you actually know if there's a problem at all. If you're sure that you didn't do anything to the computer that would make it this way, i suppose you should attempt to exchange it, or at least take advantage of a warranty if you have one.

That's no reason that it shouldn't work properly unless you have poor air flow for the GPU. GPUs (and the whole system) should have sufficient cooling to run at 100% load for extended periods of time.
