Cyber power quality?

Just ordered a new cyberpower pc, but after looking at some of the reviews about the company in general people have been reporting issues about being kept up to date about their orders, as well as the quality control being lackluster and realistically left up to the buyer to run checks. Just wondering if those reviews from a few years ago are still accurate or has Cyber power improved?

Many are the problems associated with buying from CyberPowerPC.
Would you like me to link some of the ones we've seen here?

How much did you pay for this thing?

One CyberPower system here the other day...$2,800.
Adding up the actual parts from Amazon, Newegg, and elsewhere...incl OS and monitor...$1,800.

Paid about $1300 for a i7 7700k and a 1070, an asetek 550lc 120 mm liquid cooler, an Msi z270-A, 16gb of ram, the standard 600 watt psu, and 2 tb of storage.

120mm liquid cooler - Useless. One of the better air coolers works better, for less money
Standard 600w PSU - Useless, possibly dangerous.

Those are just the two main parts that 'look good', but really aren't.

Will this CyberPower explode? Probably not.
Could you have done better? Probably.
Will it run? As long as the assembly wasn't done by the 19 year old intern suffering through a Monday morning hangover, probably.

Wonderful, serves me right trying to get a gaming rig without too much work I suppose. I did research the components and the power supply and cooler both had results like "they will be fine" and such from other people. What cooler and psu should I think about getting if they break?

The problem with the PSU is that it is more or less OK, with the included parts. It won't explode immediately.
When you start adding stuff, or overclocking that 7700k....then you run into major issues.
The number "600 watts" says nothing about the quality of the unit, or how much it actually delivers.

wish you luck with your new PC.

after looking at their site , I found out that they let you choose off the shelve components ... I dont get why every one here are saying negative things about them , you can choose the components you need and I can see they include good power supplies and good components to choose from , not like they force you to get the low Quality items.

We say negative things, because we've seen the aftermath.

Yes, they 'let you' choose good parts.
However, most people buying there do not.
The 'standard PSU' is crap.
The fancy 120mm liquid cooler sounds great, but isn't.
And then all the little tiny addons that you think you need, but don't.

Lastly, the impressive construction quality leaves a LOT to be desired.
DVD drive not connected, CPU thermal paste not applied, abysmal after sale support.

As said...it will work, mostly.
Can you do better? Yes, much better.

wow .. thermal paste not applied !!!! just wow

you should make a Sticky about Pre built PC companies then , whom to avoid and who are good. Many people just cant understand electronics at all and will never build their own PC.

Research for a power supply involves people with specialized equipment that have tested the power supplies in question.

It's not even the building/not building.
It is actual parts selection, and knowing what is fluff from those guys.

Too many people accept the defaults instead of doing any research.
OC CPU with a non-OC capable motherboard
Standard PSU.
Crappy liquid cooler( But is Liquid, so it must be better, right?)
"Professional assembly" An extra $20? Really?
and we could continue...

The default should be good quality as well , I agree with you, and the unlocked CPU selection should be grayed out if the wrong mobo is chosen ...

I think this needs a sticky , the same of PSU tiers sticky ... see if you can do it or a group of moderators do it.

Many things might need a sticky.
However....someone who might be inclined to overspend on a CyberPowerPC or iBuyPower would likely not read the stickies.
Or do any actual pre purchase research into parts selection.

Like the sticky on no password assistance. Yet every day, we see dozens.

I agree but still , it is educational , people need to know that even if they choose the parts carefully , they could end up with a CPU cooler without thermal paste applied lol .. I never would have guessed.
