Thank you for any help! I haven't built a gaming pc before.

Since just the Ryzen 7 3700 (3rd gen) AMD CPU is available, do you think going with an i7 or i9 would give better performance? I am agnostic for cpu brand. I do have some friends who have built computers recently who are raving about the newer AMD processors.

Thank you

I'm sure they are raving about the newer AMD chips... I considered it but the problem is they are unavailable unless you want to pay ridiculous scalper upcharges. So I "settled" for the i9 10900k and have absolutely no regrets... I got it at retail price and it's still a beast processor.

I'm not all the familiar with the different Ryzen chips... I haven't owned an AMD machine in 20 years. Just kinda worked out that way... my 2017 build was right before the...
It does not have to be from any specific website - I have no loyalty for purchasing this. I just found this website to be one that will be easy for him, since it can be sent to his house fully built.

I am open for suggestions on better websites. I am assuming psu is power supply?

Thank you

That pc will run 2020 with no issues. I have a 10700k, 3080 and 32gb ram and I have no problems . High settings on everything with 150 set to textures and the other setting (forget which one..shadows?) 30-60fps over nyc, 50+ in other non major metropolitan areas. I have no ran VR with it yet but I'm going to do it today with an Oculus Rift S.

800 watts is fine BUT it should be from one of the top tier manufacturers such as Corsaid, Evga, Seasonic.

Try NZXT or Corsair - they both sell their own lines of pre-built PCs that will be better than anything you can get from Cyberpower. Cyberpower has so many issues with their build qualities and quality control that they're widely considered a joke among serious PC enthusiasts.

When looking at the NZXT website, it looks like they only have the 3rd gen Ryzen CPUs vs the 5th gen. Would this quickly become an issue or hinder the game performance?

I was looking on that website at the Ryzen 7 3700X.

It is good to know that cyberpower has a bad reputation. I definitely want to know the product will show up ready to work.

3rd generation Ryzen is still good, and should be for a while. I have a 3900X in my rig and it is a very excellent CPU. I wouldn't expect OEMs to have 4th gen for a while at least until supply issues get sorted out, which I would mostly assume would be COVID related.

And yeah Cyberpower is bad. My company used to have a Cyberpower warehouse occupying the same building as us, and I have seen them commit some very terrible atrocities with their systems. and it's no wonder they have so many problems.

I went to NZXT, and it looks like this build is a few hundred cheaper than the cyberpowerpc. Does this one look sufficient?

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 - ASUS TUF GAMING OC
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core 3.6GHz
CPU COOLING: NZXT Kraken X63
MOTHERBOARD: ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Plus
RAM: G.SKILL Trident Z Royal RGB 3600MHz (max speed) 32GB (2X16GB)
SSD: Seagate FireCuda 520 1.0 TB
FANS: AER F 140 FAN (2)
POWER: EVGA SuperNOVA 750W G5 Gold

Thank you

I will also go look at that prebuilt computer on newegg.

It's doable... might want to bump up the storage though... 1TB isn't a whole lot for windows and games.

I just built my PC and MSFS2020 was one of the reasons I did... you don't have to splurge like I did but consider building one yourself assuming you can get all the components. It's not that hard and far better IMHO than dealing with any prebuilt companies.

Just kinda worked out that way... my 2017 build was right before the Ryzen chips launched so I went with the proven i7-7700k over the unknown. This new 2020 build I went with Intel because of availability and pricing being far better than AMD.

It's not that great a time to build a PC... but if you are persistent you can and do it at retail price. Nothing wrong with i7's and i9's.

It looks like he went with the i9. His components look pretty similar to yours. It currently does have the 1 GB SSD, but I was thinking he can just add another 1 later if necessary. I highly doubt he will do anything other than this game on it.

Thanks for the help everyone!
