It seems the "workstation" part escaped your attention. A single Quadro card can cost $6000.

a quadro 600 cost $120, it is a low profile card that is pretty much the equivalent to a geforce 8600 in terms of speed

for $1000 you can build a much better workstation rig than their $1000 workstation (base config)

A 600, yes, but a Quadro 6000 costs about $10,000 in the UK, making $17,000 quite a reasonable price for a top end workstation:
