A customer of mine has a CyberpowerPC. His mother plugged in a thumb drive to one of the front USB ports. The screen immediately went black and the computer shut down. When she tried to turn it back on, the fans spin and light up, the keyboard lights up but the laser on the mouse does not and the monitor will go to sleep because it's not receiving a signal.

Here's what I've done so far,
  1. Unplugged the power cord and held the power button in for about a minute.
  2. Tried a different video card and also the onboard video.
  3. Tried a different power supply.
  4. Tried different memory.
  5. Tested the hard drive and for the heck of it, the CMOS battery.
  6. Unplugged the connector for the front USB ports.
  7. Tried a different keyboard and also mouse.

It's not the monitor because I know my monitor is fine along with all the replacement items I've tried. Nothing I've done has changed anything. At this point I'm thinking either the CPU or motherboard has failed. Is there something I'm missing? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
