Well, this is as good a place as any for this tidbit, I thought his was too good a hack to not share somewhere....
If you have an old D-Link Air Plus DWL-520+...
Wi-Fi card for a desktop.... and you have a needy old laptop...
take the two screws out and pull the D-Link Air Plus
Logo cover off and throw it away
Pull the card out of the mini PCI connector and
Guess what?
You have a Texas Instruments ACX 100 Internal Wireless Interface card that fit and WORKED in my old Dell Latitude 610
Pull off the antenna connector, and cut the wire
( it comes from the power supply )
close to the circuit board with finger nail clippers
and guess what?
I took the bottom cover off my old dell latitude 610
running Ubuntu and the dang thing WORKED!!
PASS IT ON!
It WORKS!
Im still blown at my incredible luck this evening
apparantly the old d-link pci card accepts and coverts
laptop mini internal pci cards for desktop use..
regards
