I've been holding down the button with a paper-clip (and a toothpick) for 10 seconds, 20 seconds, even 30 seconds and it won't reset. It connected to the wrong network and I don't have the password for it.

What do I do?

EDIT: This is a wireless extender for clarification.

Extender, router, WAP or whatever else they might be called, D-Link likely uses the same general hardware and software platform for all of them just like most other consumer networking device manufacturers do, which means it probably has the same bootloader recovery mode most routers have, you just need to investigates the specifics of triggering your extender's bootloader mode.
Have you tried holding the reset button before powering the router up? One of my friends has a Linksys router that was plagued with a firmware that had a bug on the reset switch where the reset function would not work after the power-up sequence. This was really annoying since the same firmware also had a bug where the router's UI would either no longer accept connections from the LAN. I had to flash it using the bootloader/tftp recovery mode to get around the buggy firmware before I could reset it normally.

Oops, sorry I didn't specify this before, this is a wireless extender, not a router. Sorry!
