In the market for a new modem router.
What would be best D-Link Viper 3900 or TP-Link VR2800?

First, I don't recommend a modem/router combo. A separate modem and router allows you to upgrade the router to ANY brand. And if you change your ISP service from DSL to coax or fiber, you can usually continue to use the router.
