Hello,

Recently I have replaced my cpu processor to Core 2 Duo E6600 where Max TDP is 65w.

Motherboard D945GCNL.

This processor heat frequently to 75 C- 77 C when doing some cpu intensive activity like Picasa refresh, Benchmarking, etc.

Kindly suggest solution.

If they are both 65W TDP, then they should have similar temps. You need to remember they're different processors and 65W is approximate. The two processors have different frequencies, L2 cache size, # of transistors. (The E6600 should run a little hotter than the Celeron D at similar speeds.)
Hi,

Changed processor recently. Buyed used one from ebay.

Thermal paste is not branded. It has (Original Intel Celeron D 347) hitsink & Fan.

The thermal paste is black color and I have pasted fully on it. Hitsink & Fan are proper. When processor start heating the fan speed increases.

When Computer starts in BIOS it shows 61/62 C.

One more query, if processor continues heating at 75 and go down. And it happen frequently then what can happen?

Thanks,

I think there are two(2) versions of the 'Celeron D 347'. (According to wikipedia). If the temperature is 'spiking' up and down, I would suspect the fan might be failing.

If you run the computer with the case open/off and have a fan pointed at the case does the problem persist? (The case fan might be failing as well).

Yep! .. I was unaware of 2 version of Celeron D 347. Well, I have kept my processor aside. I will check the SKN value and see whether earlier processor was 65w or 86w. If earlier processor was 65w .. then also its Hitsink / fan can work with Core 2 Duo E6600 which has same 65W then... isnt this?

Thanks,

Thanks Aefuan

At last my processor temperature came to normal 45-50 w.

Thanks all for recommendation. I removed hit sink and reapply it using thermal paste. This time I am lucky. Seems earlier it was fixing issue.

Thank You
