Hi All,

Desparately need help here.

I have a D975xbx2 (rev 504 I think) board with an ATI Diamond 1650Pro 512MB video card, and several SATA drives on both the Marvel (Blue) and Intel (Black) controllers. Memory is Corsair XMS 6400 (1.9V) 2 x 1Gb.

Current problem is that I am getting the Intel logo screen with a "EB" post error code. If I try to reboot right away, I just get a blank screen with the cursor blinking. If I wait a few hours, I get teh EB code again.

The last thing I did was increase the FSB slightly to get a 2.47 GHZ speed (from 2.4 stock), but I wanted to put this back. I have since changed memory (originally thought that was the issue).

I tried the recovery mode (ie no jumper) but the bios doesnt seem to udpate.

Very frustrated on this. Not sure what hte problem is.

Help...please!

I am untechnical, but this is my first build from scratch.

TIA!!

I'm not familiar with that particular board, but it sounds like you need to reset the bios. The only way I know that works across boards, is to remove the battery for a bit, then reinsert it.

Maybe someone with your board, will know what jumpers reset the bios.

Only use the blue OR black, not both. You also have to install one (not both) of the drivers, either the marvel or intel. It says to do it before installing the OS. Not finished with mine yet, but been researching it for months and buying a piece at a time. Not sure if I will be using the Marvel or Intel, that's what I was looking for when I saw your post.

You can use both. You DONT need the drivers for the intel ones unless your using RAID or running the drives in AHCI. The Marvel controller needs the F6 driver if you want to install the OS on the drives running off of it, but you dont need to install them before OS if all your going to do is use the drives on the marvel controller for data. You can add the driver into windows and then use them.

Error message can be found in the technical product specification (tps).

It either freezing at the password stage, or legacy option roms according the the post error message table.

Clear the CMOS. If that doesnt work update the BIOS. If not disable the Marvel Controller and the onboard lan and see if that makes a difference....

Strange. I have the same mobo and I have no problems with it, working sweet. But I also get the "EB" code (briefly displayed in bottom right corner) during boot - not sure if it during POST or not.
I never really though about it since everything - apparently - is working...

If you find out what it means, the EB, please do post it here...

Sorry I missed the previous post by Amiller127.
So according to the manual the EB code means either "Calling Legacy Option ROMs" or "Calling Video BIOS".

"Calling Legacy Option ROMs" - Does anybody know what meaning to put in this... Is that an error or merely an information? What are the legacy option ROMs doing/storing?

option roms link into the BIOS and hands over control of some devices or thereabouts.

My guess would be to disable the contollers your not using, disable things like the printer ports if you dont wnat to use them (should boot a tiny bit faster too for this).

update the BIOS too if its sticking and check for compatibility of the components you have installed.
